Once upon a time in NYC there was a DANCE contest called the Harvest Moon Ball. It started in 1935 and a famously featured significantly a Harlem dance that helped sky rocket this event (and the dance) to fame: The Lindy Hop! This contest ran over 50 years under the Daily News and a woman named Mama Lu Parks.
Exciting Harlem dance history that needs to be talked and preserved more – so join us tonite! We will meet some of the treasured Champions and Winners who participated in this contest – and did more to preserve Harlem’s dance professionally.
Hear their exciting experiences of Harlem back in the day, the old “MSG” Madison Square Garden…. being on the grand stage and more!
Listen to these Legends for two days as this is Part 1 – try to make it on the 8th too!
