Intro to Competing
Competitions have been a big part of Lindy Hop history: it gave dancers a chance to show off their skills, pushed dancers to grow based on friendly rivalries, and gave dancers inspiration to create new moves to evolve the dance form. In this class, we'll explore the different types of competition formats, watch some historical and modern competition clips to get some inspiration, discuss how to prepare for competitions, and practice mock competitions. In October, Wednesday Night Hop will hold its own progressive Harvest Moon Mix & Match competition (named after the historical Harvest Moon Ball competition in Madison Square Garden), and this class can help give you courage, insight, and enthusiasm to participate! (Note: no partner necessary to enroll in this class)

PRE-REQUISITES: 4 months of Beginner FUNdamentals or comfort with 6-count Lindy Hop, 8-count Lindy Hop, and Charleston. No partner necessary.
